Gary Steele is Splunk’s President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of our board of directors. A highly regarded technology executive with over 30 years of experience, he has a proven track record of successfully scaling SaaS operations and growing multi-billion dollar global enterprises. Prior to joining Splunk in 2022, Gary was the founding CEO of Proofpoint, where he led the company’s growth from an early-stage start-up to a leading, publicly traded security-as-a-service provider. He previously served as CEO of Portera and held various leadership roles at Sybase, Sun Microsystems and Hewlett-Packard. Gary has also served as a member of the board of directors of Upwork, a talent freelancing platform, since 2018. He holds a B.S. from Washington State University.

Katie Bianchi is the Senior Vice President, Chief Customer Officer for Splunk. With over 20 years of experience, she oversees our commitment to helping customers achieve their business outcomes and ongoing value with Splunk. Katie is passionate about delivering exceptional customer experiences and introducing new services that help customers realize value with mission-critical enterprise technology. Prior to joining Splunk in 2018, she served as Vice President of Customer Success at GE Digital, where she led customer success growth strategy, services portfolio management, and renewal operations for its software business. Throughout her career, Katie has held leadership roles in product management, business development, services, marketing and operations across industries, including aviation, power generation, and oil and gas. She holds a B.S. from Ithaca College and an M.B.A from Boston College.

Jason Child brought his expertise in scaling high-growth organizations to Splunk as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 2019 following ten years of CFO experience at Opendoor, Jawbone and Groupon, Inc. Before his executive leadership roles, Jason spent more than 11 years leading various global finance teams at Amazon and learning the growth opportunity of cloud technology-centric organizations. Considering cloud-first a top priority for Splunk, its customers and the technology industry, Jason uses his CFO lens to drive financial strategies that deliver a return in business transformation through the adoption of cloud-first strategies. Jason has served as a member of the board of directors of Coupang, Inc., an e-commerce company, since April 2022. He is an avid bicyclist, reader and podcast fan, and he holds a B.A. from the University of Washington. Jason’s favorite career advice is that, “no one will care about your career as much as you do. If there is an opportunity you want, don’t wait for someone to tap you on the shoulder; go pursue it on your own.”

Garth Fort is the Senior Vice President and Chief Product Officer for Splunk. With over 25 years of product management experience, Garth is responsible for evolving Splunk’s market-leading product portfolio of software and cloud services. He has a true passion for driving product roadmaps across both established and emerging categories while successfully guiding software teams through high growth and transitions to the cloud. Prior to Splunk, Garth served as a general manager for Amazon Web Services (AWS) and led innovation for customers, independent software vendors and channel partners. He also held several leadership positions with Microsoft over 20 years and oversaw the worldwide ecosystem strategy and execution for its cloud and enterprise division, including Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, SQL Server and a broad portfolio of products for developers and IT professionals. He holds an A.B. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Claire Hockin is the Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer for Splunk. Claire is responsible for building reputation, engagement and demand as Splunk pursues its mission to remove the barriers between data and action, so that everyone can thrive in the Data Age. She leads all aspects of the global marketing organization including field & partner, digital, communications, corporate marketing, customer advocacy & success as well as marketing operations and insights.

With over 20 years of experience in global product, technology, and consulting organizations, Claire has held leadership positions at Infosys, Accenture and Capgemini in Europe, Asia Pacific and North America. She is passionate about helping companies create and lead new market categories as well as grow share of mind across all aspects of the marketing and communications portfolio. Claire holds a B.S. from Southampton University.

Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer

Ammar Maraqa is the Senior Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer at Splunk. It’s a role that taps his passion for technology and innovation and his deep experience helping companies grow and transform. Ammar came to Splunk in 2015 as Vice President of Business Operations and currently leads Corporate Strategy, Corporate Development, and Pricing and Monetization. For a time, he also led Global Strategic Alliances, and served as General Manager for IoT Markets. Before coming to Splunk, Ammar served as Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy at Cisco Systems, Inc., and held various Product roles at Dell, Inc prior to that. He started his career in consulting at Bain & Company working with companies to solve critical growth and scaling challenges. Ammar holds a dual bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Computer Engineering and Finance, and an M.B.A from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.

Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, Global Affairs and Secretary

Scott Morgan is Splunk’s Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, Global Affairs & Secretary, and has responsibility for Splunk’s legal, government affairs and Splunk for Good functions. Scott has more than 20 years of experience practicing at the intersection of law, technology and leadership. Scott believes that transparency, informed debate and acting with the highest ethics are particularly relevant to his work at Splunk. He believes that establishing and maintaining trust is paramount, and promotes this within Splunk and the industry. Scott joined Splunk as Associate General Counsel and Assistant Secretary in 2012 before working up to his current role. Prior to Splunk he was legal counsel at Autodesk, Inc. and Tellabs, Inc. Before transitioning to in-house legal counsel, Scott worked at Morrison and Foerster LLP and Thoits, Love, Hershberger & McClean LLP, where he specialized in corporate finance, acquisitions, intellectual property and technology licensing. Scott earned a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a member of the occasionally competitive Cal Ski Team. He earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law. Outside of work, Scott is passionate about his family, friends, community and the health of our planet.

Senior Vice President, Chief People Officer

Kristen Robinson is Chief People Officer at Splunk, bringing her passion for leading growing companies to a strong future with people as the foundation. Kristen comes to Splunk from previous roles in disruptive, growing companies including Pandora Media, Inc., where she was Chief Human Resource Officer from 2014 until it was acquired by Sirius XM Holdings Inc. She was also SVP, Human Resources at Yahoo! Inc., and VP, Human Resources at Verigy Ltd., as it spun off from Agilent Technologies. Kristen has served as a member of the board of directors of Verint Systems Inc., a provider of customer engagement solutions, since February 2022. Her unique experience with dynamic high-growth companies led to her philosophy that culture and talent are critical for any company to achieve success. Kristen has a B.S. in accounting from Boston College and earned her M.B.A. from Northwestern University.

Christian Smith is Senior Vice President, Chief Revenue Officer and has been with Splunk since 2017. He is responsible for all commercial business worldwide and brings more than 25 years of experience in cloud and hybrid go-to-market strategy, SaaS sales and marketing, scaling sales organizations and acquisition integration. Christian possesses a deep knowledge of the technology and software industry, having previously served as Chief Revenue Officer at Nintex and held a number of leadership roles at Oracle, ATG and Daptiv. Christian holds a B.A. from the University of Washington and is an avid athlete who spends non-work time running, hiking, snow skiing, cross training, and then recovering with yoga.

Graham V. Smith has served as a member of our board of directors since 2011 and Chair since 2019. From November 2021 to April 2022, Mr. Smith served as our interim CEO. Mr. Smith served in various executive leadership positions at salesforce.com, inc., a provider of enterprise cloud computing software, from 2007 to 2015, including as Chief Financial Officer and most recently as Executive Vice President. Prior to joining Salesforce, Mr. Smith served as Chief Financial Officer at Advent Software Inc., a portfolio accounting software company, from 2003 to 2007. Mr. Smith has served as a member of the board of directors of Procore Technologies, Inc., a provider of cloud-based construction management software, since 2020. Mr. Smith previously served on the boards of directors of Citrix Systems, Inc., an enterprise software company, from 2015 to 2018, MINDBODY, Inc., a cloud-based wellness services marketplace from 2015 to 2019, Xero Limited, an online accounting software company, from 2015 to 2020, BlackLine, Inc., a provider of cloud-based solutions for finance and accounting, from 2015 to 2022, Slack Technologies, Inc., a provider of cloud-based professional collaboration tools, from 2018 to 2021, and Elliott Opportunity II Corp., a special purchase acquisition company, from June to December 2021. Mr. Smith holds a B.Sc. from Bristol University in England and qualified as a chartered accountant in England and Wales.

Sara Baack has served as a member of our board of directors since 2017. Ms. Baack served as Chief Product Officer of Equinix, Inc., a global interconnection and data center company, from 2019 to 2021. Previously, she was Equinix’s Chief Marketing Officer from 2012 to 2019. Prior to joining Equinix, she served in various executive positions at Level 3 Communications Inc., a provider of integrated communications services, most recently as Senior Vice President, Voice Services from 2007 to 2012 and in other leadership positions in the company from 2000 to 2007. Prior to Level 3, she worked in financial services investing private equity for PaineWebber Capital (since acquired by UBS Group AG). Ms. Baack has served as a member of the board of directors of Crucible Acquisition Corporation, a special purchase acquisition company, since 2021. Ms. Baack holds a B.A. from Rice University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Sean Boyle has served as a member of our board of directors since 2020. He brings more than two decades of finance and capital markets experience, financial planning and operations, as well as management and strategy. Since December 2020, Mr. Boyle has served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Wildlife Studios Limited, a mobile gaming company. Previously, he served in various roles at Amazon Web Services, Inc., a cloud computing and infrastructure company, between 2006 and 2020, including as Vice President of Investor Relations, Chief Financial Officer, and most recently as Vice President. Mr. Boyle holds a B.Com. (Hons) and an M.B.A. from the University of Windsor.

Independent Board Member and Former CTO of eBay Inc.

Mark Carges has served as a member of our board of directors since 2014. He previously served as Chief Technology Officer of eBay Inc., an e-commerce company, from September 2009 to September 2014. Mr. Carges was a member of the eBay Inc. leadership team since September 2008, overseeing eBay Inc.’s platform strategy, as well as having overall responsibility for technology, software development and site operations for eBay.com. Prior to joining eBay Inc., Mr. Carges was Executive Vice President, Products and General Manager, for the Business Interaction Division at BEA Systems, a provider of enterprise application infrastructure software which was acquired by Oracle in April 2008. During more than a decade at BEA, Mr. Carges held a variety of senior technology leadership roles, including Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Carges began his career at Bell Labs as one of the original architects of Tuxedo, software for constructing highly scalable transaction processing applications. Mr. Carges has served as a member of the board of directors of Veeva Systems Inc., a provider of industry cloud solutions for the global life sciences industry, since 2017. Mr. Carges holds a BA from the University of California at Berkeley and an MS from New York University.

Ken Hao has served as a member of our board of directors since 2021. Since December 2019, Mr. Hao has served as Chairman and Managing Partner of Silver Lake, a global technology investment firm. Prior to this role, Mr. Hao served in various roles at Silver Lake, which he joined in 2000, including Managing Partner and Managing Director from 2012 to 2019. Prior to joining Silver Lake, Mr. Hao served as Managing Director at Hambrecht & Quist (now part of J.P. Morgan), from 1990 to 1999. Mr. Hao has served as a member of the board of directors of NortonLifeLock Inc., a global leader in consumer cyber safety, since 2016, and SolarWinds Corporation, an IT infrastructure management software company, since 2016. Mr. Hao previously served on the board of directors of Broadcom Inc., a global technology leader in semiconductor and infrastructure software solutions, from 2016 to 2018, and SMART Global Holdings, Inc., a provider of specialty memory, storage and hybrid solutions, from 2011 to 2021. Mr. Hao holds an A.B. from Harvard College.

Patricia B. Morrison has served as a member of our board of directors since 2013. Ms. Morrison was Executive Vice President, Customer Support Services and Chief Information Officer at Cardinal Health, Inc., a provider of healthcare services, from 2009 to 2018. Prior to joining Cardinal Health, Ms. Morrison was Chief Executive Officer of Mainstay Partners, a technology advisory firm, from 2008 to 2009, and Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Motorola, Inc., a designer, manufacturer, marketer and seller of mobility products, from 2005 to 2008. Her previous experience also includes Chief Information Officer of Office Depot, Inc. and senior-level information technology positions at PepsiCo, Inc., The Quaker Oats Company, General Electric Company, and The Procter & Gamble Company. Ms. Morrison has served as a member of the board of directors of Baxter International Inc., a global medical products company, since 2019. Ms. Morrison previously served on the board of directors of Aramark, a global provider of food, facilities and uniform services, from 2017 to 2019, and Virtusa Corporation, a global provider of digital strategy, digital engineering, and IT services and solutions, from 2020 to 2021. Ms. Morrison holds a B.A. and B.S. from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Stephen G. Newberry has served as a member of our board of directors since 2013 and Lead Independent Director from November 2021 to April 2022. Mr. Newberry served as a director of Lam Research Corporation, a supplier of wafer fabrication equipment and services, from 2005 to 2019, and served as the Chairman of the board of Lam Research from 2012 to 2019. He served as Lam Research's Chief Executive Officer from 2005 to 2011, President from 1998 to 2010, and Chief Operating Officer from 1997 to 2005. Prior to joining Lam Research, Mr. Newberry held various executive positions at Applied Materials, Inc., a provider of manufacturing solutions for the semiconductor, flat panel display and solar industries. Mr. Newberry previously served on the board of Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI), the semiconductor industry's trade organization and on the board of directors of Nanometrics Incorporated, a provider of process control metrology and inspection systems. Mr. Newberry holds a B.S. from the United States Naval Academy and completed an executive education program at Harvard Business School.

Elisa Steele has served as a member of our board of directors since 2017. Ms. Steele previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Namely, Inc., a financial and human capital management software company, from 2018 to 2019. Ms. Steele previously served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Jive Software, Inc., a collaboration software company, which was acquired in June 2017. Ms. Steele was a member of the Jive Software executive leadership team since 2014. Prior to joining Jive Software, Ms. Steele served as Chief Marketing Officer and Corporate Vice President, Consumer Apps & Services at Microsoft Corporation, a worldwide provider of software, services and solutions, and Chief Marketing Officer of Skype, an Internet communications company, from 2012 to 2014. Ms. Steele also has held executive leadership positions at Yahoo! Inc. and NetApp, Inc. Ms. Steele has served as a member of the boards of directors of JFrog Ltd., an enterprise software company, since 2020, Bumble Inc., an online dating and social networking platform, since 2020, Procore Technologies, Inc., a provider of cloud-based construction management software, since 2020, and Amplitude, Inc., a product analytics software provider, since 2021. Ms. Steele previously served on the board of directors of Cornerstone OnDemand, Inc., a learning and human capital management software company, from 2018 to 2021. Ms. Steele holds a B.S. from the University of New Hampshire and an M.B.A. from San Francisco State University.

Executive Vice President, Booz Allen Hamilton & Former Four-Star U.S. Army General

General Dennis L. Via, US Army, Retired, has served on our board of directors since 2020. General Via has served as an Executive Vice President for Corporate Engagement and a member of the Global Defense Sector leadership team since 2021, an Executive Vice President in the Global Defense Group’s Joint Combatant Command business from 2018 to 2021 and a fellow for Defense Futures since 2017 at Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., a management and information technology consulting firm. Prior to joining Booz Allen, he served in the United States Army from 1980 to 2016, holding multiple command and senior leadership positions, including as the Commander of the U.S. Army Materiel Command from 2012 to 2016 and retiring as a four-star General. General Via has served as a member of the board of directors for Milliken & Company, a diversified industrial manufacturer, since 2019. He holds a B.S. from Virginia State University and a Master of Education from Boston University.

Luis Visoso has served as a member of our board of directors since 2022. Since April 2021, he has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Unity Software Inc., a real-time 3D (RT3D) software platform company. Prior to joining Unity, Mr. Visoso served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer of Palo Alto Networks, Inc., a cybersecurity company, from 2020 to 2021. Prior to joining Palo Alto Networks, he served in various roles at Amazon.com, Inc., an e-commerce and cloud-computing company, from 2018 to 2020, including as Chief Financial Officer of Amazon Web Services, Inc. in 2020, and Chief Financial Officer of Amazon’s Worldwide Consumer organization, from 2018 to 2020. From 2016 to 2018, he served as Senior Vice President, Business, Technology and Operations Finance at Cisco Systems, Inc., a networking technology company. Prior to joining Cisco, Mr. Visoso held various roles at The Procter & Gamble Company, a consumer products company, from 1993 to 2016, including most recently as Vice President, F&A Global Business Units. Mr. Visoso holds a bachelor’s degree from Tecnológico de Monterrey.
